Charcoal workshop with Colleen Carter

Colleen Carter will be teaching a charcoal drawing workshop using a technique that involves layering black and white charcoal to create a soft, realistic effect resembling a painting. The day will include demonstrations and exercises in the morning with a talk about the importance of value relationships in creating a realistic image as well as accuracy in drawing. The afternoon will be devoted to applying this technique as we work to create an animal drawing with realistic fur texture. Call Colleen at 317-508-DRAW to register.Supplies:

- (4) General's charcoal pencils 6B extra soft
- (2) white charcoal pencils or white pastel pencils, kneaded eraser
- (1) tablet charcoal paper
- Strathmore series 500 in assorted colors-very important that it's not white-12"x18"
- electric pencil sharpener
- Drawing boards will be provided.
- Come join us for 5 fun days of crafts that will include acrylic painting on rocks, paper-mache, clay projects and more. Each week of camp features different craft projects, so attend one or attend all four. Space is available for 12 students. Camp is open to Sketch Pad students and newcomers, so consider attending the camp with a friend! We’ll have a great time!

Improve your drawing skills and acquire new ones during a week full of demonstrations, study and practice of " Bargue drawings" and working with a model. A clothed model will pose for us on Thursday and Friday to give you the experience of working from life. This will be new for most of you but there will be plenty of guidance so join us for a fun new drawing experience. We will finish the week with a Saturday trip to the IMA and a guided tour. There is an easel waiting for you so sign up now!
- Introductory classes at the Sketch Pad are for first time students to experience drawing or painting for a short 6 week term. It's a fun time for students to brush up on drawing skills or explore a new medium. We recommended that you take Intro to Drawing prior to Intro to Painting Classes if you have no prior experience in drawing. Class size is limited to 12 students.
* The cost for the Intro class is $125 which covers tuition and all supplies.

Policies
Payment: Children's classes
Payment for children's classes is due the first class of each month. Tuition is $85.00 per month for the Beginning class and $85.00 per month for the Beginning/Intermediate class. Tuition is $95.00 per month for the Intermediate class. Checks should be made payable to the studio specific to where the student is enrolled, either The Sketch Pad Art Studio-Plainfield or The Sketch Pad Art Studio-Brownsburg. To register for a children's class, a $75.00 supply fee must accompany the registration form. Children may come into the studio ten minutes before their class begins.
Payment: Children's Summer Camp
The cost of summer camp is $95 per session with $50 due at registration and the remaining balance due the first day of camp. Checks should be made payable to the studio specific to where the student is enrolled, either The Sketch Pad Art Studio-Plainfield or The Sketch Pad Art Studio-Brownsburg.
Payment: Adult classes
For adult short term classes. $50.00 is due at the time of registration with the balance due the first class of the session. Checks should be made payable to the studio specific to where the student is enrolled, either The Sketch Pad Art Studio-Plainfield or The Sketch Pad Art Studio-Brownsburg. Supply lists will be determined by the instructors and mailed to registered students.
Snow closures
The Sketch Pad Art Studio will close due to snow if the school district in which it is located is closed. This includes children’s classes as well as adult classes and workshops. Classes missed due to snow closures will be rescheduled.
Make up classes
If a regularly scheduled children’s class is missed, your student may attend a makeup class. There is no charge, but pre registration is required. A make up class will be held the last Saturday of each month from 10:00am-11:30 for students in the Tuesday , Wednesday and Thursday classes.
