Laura Tesdahl, owner & instructor - Sketch Pad - Brownsburg
I earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Dayton and have an Indiana Educator’s License to teach Visual Art to Grades K-12. In 1995, I was recognized by the National Art Education Association as the Undergraduate Art Educator of the Year. While teaching, I continued my education by taking art courses through The School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Art Education Program at The University of Illinois at Chicago. My most recent training has been in Botanical Art and Illustration at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois. The Botanical Art and Illustration Certificate Program offered there is one of only three in the nation. 
My first experiences teaching Art were with elementary students enrolled in summer camp with the City of Dublin Parks and Recreation Department in Dublin, Ohio. After graduating from college, I taught Art for two years at St. Francis DeSales High School in Columbus, Ohio before relocating to the Chicago area. There, I taught Art for nine years at Emerson Middle School, a school renowned for its unique Encore Elective Program, in Park Ridge-Niles School District 64. I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching art to students of all ages.- After my family relocated to the Brownsburg area, I was elated to have my own art studio as well as the time to dedicate to my growth as an artist. I participated in the Miniature Invitational Show at Artistic Designs Gallery in Brownsburg in 2007, 2008, and 2009. In October of 2008, I was accepted as a member of Art in Hand Gallery in Zionsville. I left Art In Hand Gallery in April of 2010 to manage Artistic Designs Gallery in Brownsburg and currently teach my classes there. While I enjoy pursuing my own development as an artist, I look forward to welcoming new students to The Sketch Pad and nurturing their individual development as artists.
